How will traditional podcast editing be affected by AI?

There is no one answer to this question as the effects of AI on traditional podcast editing will likely vary depending on the specific software and editing tools that are used. However, some potential effects that AI could have on traditional podcast editing include automating editing tasks, such as transcribing audio or identifying errors and providing users with more customized editing options.

Traditional podcast editing is a tried and tested method and has been a staple of audio editing for a while.

However, AI could potentially speed up and improve the accuracy of some podcast editing tasks, making the whole process more efficient. In addition, AI could also be used to create more customized editing options for users, such as choosing different audio effects or choosing which sections of an audio clip to keep or delete.

Should you venture to use AI-generated software only, know that you run the risk of limiting yourself as well as boxing yourself in by allowing the AI to do all the work for you. To some, that sounds great.

But to those who understand how important the human element is to the podcasting industry, it sounds like a recipe for disaster and in most cases it is.

Let’s think about it for a second. AI is an incredible tool and a very powerful one at that.

But the hand’s on experience of using your ears, eyes, tweaking levels, adjusting knobs, and just the overall control you have as the editor feels so much more gratifying than leaving everything to a virtual assistant.

Sure you save some time but at what expense?

Have you considered that the AI will create a cookie cutter sound and limit the creative side of editing and audio quality?

Experimenting or using your imagination helps to create new techniques and a unique listening experience for your audience.

Although It’s not impossible that one day AI will be able to take on more complicated tasks such as mixing and making it sound unique and authentic, but we’re not quite there yet.

For now, we recommend sticking to traditional methods and if you’re looking to speed up your workflow, consider using a plugin or two to automate some of the tasks that you would otherwise have to do manually.
